Why Can’t I Access Hotels.com – IHG’s consumer and franchise-related systems were down for more than a day. Editions began at 9:00 PM ET on Sunday and continued at 1:00 AM ET on Tuesday (at the time of writing this piece).
The website and apps are up, but access to the IHG One Rewards account isn’t working, and you can’t download any hotels on the search or make reservations. All existing bookings are currently unavailable or changeable.

This also affects IHG affiliated hotels. Internal IHG systems used by properties for reservations and support are not accessible. The hotel support lines are also unresponsive or busy.

Also, how will IHG handle guest cancellations that could not be processed due to system unavailability? Surely the hotels won’t go ahead and charge them?
Many companies make systems and software last Sunday, a slow day. However, something must have gone terribly wrong if IHG couldn’t quickly revert to the previous working version when things started to go wrong.
And what about IHG’s communication to both hotels and guests? Why pretend everything is going well when nothing is?
