When Do The Pools Open In Nyc – As summer begins in New York City, cool off from the heat at one of Brooklyn’s 15 free outdoor pools. The pool opens tomorrow, June 29, and is open until September 10 this year, so you don’t have to go far to jump in.
NYC Parks hosts free programs such as adaptive swimming, senior swimming, and Learn to Swim classes for children and adults. And new this year, all NYC Parks outdoor pools will have free sunscreen.

Children under the age of 16 must be at least eight inches above the maximum water depth to enter the pool without adult supervision.
The following are not permitted in the pool or on the deck: radios, cameras, cell phones or other electronic devices; swimming equipment, water toys or flotation devices; beach chairs, strollers, bags, blankets or beach balls; cigarettes, pets, glass bottles.

You cannot enter the pool if you have: skin sores, ulcers, swelling of the eyes, mouth, nose or ears, infections or any kind of bandage on the body.
And now for the pool! All times are daily from 11am to 7pm (with an hour break between 3pm and 4pm), except for the Brooklyn Bridge Park pool, which is open from 10am to 6pm. Sometimes when it’s really hot, some pool hours are extended until 8pm – check the NYC Parks Twitter account for updates.

During the beach season, lifeguards work every day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Swimming is not allowed when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed areas of the beach.

The city is working on sprinklers in playgrounds and parks throughout the city, with more than 25 on Staten Island. Sprinkler systems generally operate on days when temperatures reach 80 degrees or higher.
Some Staten Island parks that have showers include: Clove Lakes Park, Wolfe’s Pond Park, Midland Playground, and Markham Playground.
