One of America’s most famous haunted hotels will be investigated for paranormal activity thanks to new streaming platform Discovery.

For the first time, the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, California will have film crews attempting to capture signs of ghosts in its rooms. The resulting two-hour special “Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel” will be available on Discovery+ in January 2021.
Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel Launches Exclusively On Discovery+
Discovery’s official press release states that the “Ghost Adventures” crew (Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Jay Wasley and Billy Tolley) will delve into the hotel’s dark past and spookiest moments.
Among these moments is the well-publicized case of Elisa Lam, a Canadian tourist whose body was discovered in a hotel water tank. Before that, a video showing Lam nervously hiding in an elevator hinted at even more ominous events. The story surrounding Lam’s death, and the events leading up to it, remains a mystery.
Another important guest of Hotel Cecil was Richard Ramírez. Later known as the “Night Stalker,” Ramirez was a serial killer who terrorized Los Angeles in the 1980s. He was charged with the death penalty for the murder of 14 victims and died of cancer before his execution.

This is the first review I have written. I am very concerned that this series will not be available in the US as of today, April 11, 2021. Every week my husband and I make time on Sundays to watch a new episode or an episode from the previous season. We bought every episode, up to the first season. As the seasons progressed, they moved from showing evidence and having it verified by experts to a more theatrical experience. This is now not “available for purchase in [my] area”. I really hate to say it, but we miss the “old” ghost adventures. Maybe it’s better that this one isn’t “available”.
The Cecil Hotel is one of my personal obsessions, so I was thrilled that it was available. I also think that some of the crew members featured here are actually sensitive and some less so, which is smart when trying to provoke potential evil rights. Better to have at least one less intuitive person around who is less susceptible and can handle all the practical stuff. I believe that being overcome with feelings of illness, anxiety, rage, or despair is common in haunted environments where there is work to be done, especially hotels and motels where there is a lot of foot traffic.

That said, around the 30-35 minute mark, one of the less intuitive crew members tries to use some technology to contact the ghost in Elisa Lam’s room. The automaton says “boyfriend” and “Live” and “wife” and “me”. I think any reasonable person would come to the conclusion that it was Elisa Lam’s ghost or some kind of presence impersonating her. BUT they are still trying to push the story that Richard Ramirez – who died in prison from an illness last decade – is a key player in Lam’s death. So the guy says “I can’t believe you’re a friend. You want a live wife for yourself? As a sacrifice?” Well no my friend. I’m sure it was a benign response that was tame enough and in keeping with the gentle feminine spirit you were trying to contact.
So irritating. Although there are evil beings in Cecile and Ramírez was involved in summoning or attracting them in 1985, it makes no sense that Ramírez himself is actually present. This part made me very nervous, and as someone who has always been naturally sensitive to energies and presences in old buildings, public places like hotels or apartment buildings, and sometimes old objects, I tend to avoid watching shows of ghostbusters or clothes.
I also want to point out that this is a scary show and they cover some things that are very disturbing, even for someone like me. Especially since I know the one they contacted wasn’t “Jack”. Ghosts of the dead don’t travel, just like serial killer Jack didn’t travel to Cecil for this show. All they picked up vocally and in poltergeist-like activity is just that: a poltergeist or inhuman presence. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS stuff and I don’t like that these guys on this show are spreading this kind of ignorance that could put people at risk. Like a brother, it is not a person, it is a thing, a non-human entity. Of course, if it’s a smart “old man” they’ll repeat whatever name you want to hear. That’s why religious people tell people who don’t know what they’re doing to stop trying to contact the dead. The person you contact can be anyone or anything.
I thought it was creepy, no pun intended. So creepy I just said a Hail Mary, so no bad juju in my house to watch this! I’ll turn on some comedy to shake it up.” Sorry Ghost Adventures guys, you guys are crazy! I wouldn’t even go to the basement or the 14th floor during the day!
Discovery+ Ghost Adventures Best Scariest Episodes
There is already so much drama surrounding the Cecil Hotel with shady management, even though it was reopened to take advantage of desperate low income people, this team simply blew the opportunity. Basically no research was done except looking at old Tumblr posts and the “horror” images were played. You honestly can’t trust any of the evidence they’ve put together and it all sounds like lame satire (and it isn’t).
If you’re a fan of the Ghost Adventures Crew, this is a fun special they did during last year’s pandemic. There are enough scares and scares to keep you on your toes for a longer than average episode!
I loved this episode of Ghost Adventures! His research is always full of facts and footage of possible spirits and captured sound. They even have a man who tells the tragic story of the place who actually goes into the rooms. For lovers of this type of entertainment, Zak always does a fantastic job of scaring us.
First of all, these guys are overrated…second of all, the whole show feels forced and fake. thirdly, why does the host speak like an english teacher who teaches english to non english speakers. his voice is the most annoying thing about this show. and last but not least, this show makes fun of the death of the poor girl in that hotel. shame on them The historic building, full of stories of paranormal activity, is the epitome of creepiness – the inspiration for books, movies and even the series American Horror Story.
