What Restaurants Are Closed At Disney World – Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the continued closure of Walt Disney World Resort across the country, the latest reports from Landry’s Restaurant staff include Disney Springs’ Rainforest Cafe and T-REX Cafe, and Rainforest Cafe and Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Yak & Yeti, they said all staff were fired.
Employees say they are not only not being paid, but also being laid off or furloughed without pay because of the shutdown. Employees received a link to an employment agency, but no other options for help.
What Restaurants Are Closed At Disney World
Landry’s owner Tilman Fertitta recently appeared on CNBC earlier this month as concerns over the coronavirus caused sales at Landry’s restaurants to drop by $1 million a day. Businesses with 50 or more employees were encouraged to pay their workers during all coronavirus-related shutdowns, but instead, the business appears to have decided to close entirely and lay off workers rather than provide support.

The Rainforest Cafe and T-REX Cafe in Disney Springs are now closed, and the Rainforest Cafe and Yak & Yeti Restaurant are closed Sunday night along with the rest of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It is unknown whether the venues will reopen with other parks after closing due to the mass layoffs.

ORLANDO, Fla. – As Disney World continues its phased reopening, the resort has announced that more restaurants will reopen soon.

More Restaurants Reopening At Disney World
Citricos at Disney’s Grand Florida Resort and Spa, Casey’s Corner at Magic Kingdom, and several other restaurants that have been closed since March 2020 now have reopening dates.
Citricos will reopen on July 15 with some changes, including a new theme and a new menu. The theme that diners will notice in the restaurant is inspired by Disney’s live-action movie “Mary Poppins Returns.”
“Taking subtle cues from the film’s animated sequences, the restaurant transports guests into an imaginative garden where you can ‘catch some fantastic light’ while experiencing the restaurant surrounded by the glow of decorative lamps and chandeliers ,” a blog about Disneyland.
Created by Chef Andres Mendoza, the menu includes entrees like sweet corn chowder and strawberry salad, as well as buttery Florida cobia and guava-flavored short ribs. Dessert was warm apple rose and chocolate cake.
Disneyland Paris Is Closing Again Due To A Second Wave Of Coronavirus
In addition to the campgrounds at Disney’s Wilderness Resort, Trail’s End will reopen July 17 with a family-style breakfast and dinner menu. For breakfast, diners will enjoy skillet smoked brisket, eggs, bacon, sausage, cheesy potato casserole, and Mickey Mouse waffles. For dinner, the family-style skillet comes with smoked hickory brisket, grilled chicken, andouille sausage, baby potatoes, green beans, and buttered corn on the cob. Pork chops, peeled shrimp and cornbread salmon will be available as add-ons, Disney said.

Other restaurants and food stores reopening soon at Disney World include Casey’s Corner on June 30, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at Magic Kingdom on July 7 and Dino Diner at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 4.
Earlier this month, Disney announced reopening dates for “Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.”
The Top 10 Table Service Restaurants At Disney World
The return of more restaurants comes as Disney World prepares for a busy early summer, including the return of nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Walt Disney World’s list of open and closed restaurants covers restaurants in Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and resort hotels. The good news is that the vast majority of Walt Disney World’s famous dining establishments have reopened. Last year, restaurants reopened almost every week. This includes several signature restaurants, hidden gem counter service outlets, and even a few buffets. In addition, restaurants with table service have begun to serve more tables, increasing efficiency and allowing more guests per day.
Notable recent developments include the resumption of buffet service, expanded operations, and the restoration of many “missing meals” across many character dining experiences. Beyond that, some niche signature restaurants have returned or are about to reopen, albeit with significantly higher prices and fixed-price menus. (Presumably, since there is a Florida Michelin guide, these are “star catchers.”)
Another positive is that the culinary team at Walt Disney World is not as understaffed as it was last year. This is one of the big reasons restaurants are able to fill more tables and increase seating capacity.
What’s Happening At Disney World Right Now? Current Procedures & Info
The same goes for the character dining experience, where the dining tables have been removed to allow more space between the characters and guests. That’s great news for those looking to pre-order meals or walk-in services.
Truth be told, most early dining reservations are still more competitive than before closing. (See “What is ADR availability?” for more information on ADRs.) ADRs at many restaurants are elusive, and you won’t be lucky enough to get them unless you book 60 days in advance, and even then it might not be good enough. .This includes Space 220 Restaurant, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre, California Grill, Be Our Guest Restaurant and many others.

With the exception of new or newly opened restaurants, the vast majority of our ADRs are made a few days in advance (or even the same day). The latest development on the upcoming list is EPCOT’s Takumi-Tei, which will open for dinner by appointment only on 23 November 2022 for a limited time. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, only the Omakase tasting menu is available. There are two options, the plant-based menu for $150 per person, and the regular Omakase tasting menu for $250 per person.
More Magic Kingdom Restaurants To Serve Alcohol At Disney World
Before closing, the regular Omakase tasting menu was $150 per person, which brings the price up by $100. We raved about Takumi-Tei’s Omakase tasting menu when we reviewed it, saying it was a great meal over 2 hours
We’ve been looking forward to the return of Takumi-Tei and Monsieur Paul which also recently reopened. However, due to the triple digit price hikes and the fixed price menu only, we won’t be dining in either. Hope the a la carte menu will be back soon.
Beyond that, you may notice that some of the “soon to open” restaurants listed above have reopened. That’s because the restaurants are recovering “missing meals” and moving away from regular restaurants to specialty dining experiences, as was the case before the closures.
Walt Disney World’s hint is that more special meals will return in the coming months. The main hurdle in this regard is understaffing, which remains an ongoing problem and is likely to persist until 2023. That’s why, for example, the Akershus Royal Ballroom has reopened, but only for dinner and not breakfast. There’s enough demand to use up all three ADRs ahead of schedule: Disney doesn’t voluntarily leave cash on the table; they don’t have enough cast members to do the shift work required for breakfast and lunch.

Note that even though Be Our Guest is back, it is still using the “all day” table service menu previously reserved for dinner. That means both breakfast and lunch at the counter stop.
