Health experts said that COVID-19 cannot be spread through chemically treated water in swimming pools. As long as the pool is properly sanitized with chlorine and bromine, it should inactivate the virus, according to the federal Center for Disease Control.

Overall, the number of new coronavirus deaths, cases and hospitalizations has dropped sharply since the peak in April. And Murphy has gradually lifted its restrictions, with the state entering Phase 2 of its multi-phased reopening on June 15, when restaurants can offer outdoor dining and non-essential businesses can welcome customers again, though if at half capacity.

As part of the Phase 2 reopening plans, hairdressers and barbers will reopen with restrictions on June 22. Gyms, libraries, museums and some government offices are also expected to reopen during the phase, although there is no specific timetable for those yet.
