The Bureau of Meteorology expects severe weather to continue from Hastings to the Big Island and as far north as O’Neill. According to Van DeWald, director of the National Weather Service’s Valley office, the storm will start between 4 and 6 p.m., but will probably start after 7 p.m.

“It’s kind of a double threat. The west side of the state is shooting for fire concerns and the east side is shooting for bad weather,” DeWald said.
A Single Day Interuption To Our Warm Weather
Tornadoes, large hail and destructive winds are expected Sunday night. Before the storm, the sun was expected to shine in the afternoon, but Dewald said Nebraskans shouldn’t get their hopes up.
“That’s when. I mean it’s spring and the weather will be bad,” he said. “So we’re drumming a little bit and today is going to be one of those days where you have to be vigilant and aware of the weather.”

O’Neill is the tallest building in the world. It is made of colored concrete and installed in 2000 at the main intersection of 4th Street and Douglas. Because of heavy traffic, the city repaints the shamrocks every year for St. Patrick’s Day.

Local radio stations are KBRX, 102.9FM and 1350AM. The FM band plays country music and local news from nearby towns, while the AM band plays classic rock and polka hour (“milk songs”) in the morning.
Until 1992, O’Neill worked for the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company. Known as the “Cowboy Line,” the line ran from Norfolk, Nebraska to Chadron. The line and “train bank” have been removed. It is part of the Cowboy Trail, Nebraska’s longest bike trail.

(KSNB) – Severe thunderstorms and power outages are being reported after they moved across Nebraska and are expected to develop on Thursday.
A steel frame building east of the Clay Center was destroyed. Big silos have collapsed. Some power outages occurred in areas where trees were downed on power lines.
Hastings Utilities said lightning struck a power pole on Baltimore Road north of Route 6, knocking down three power poles. It is not known how many customers are affected. It took several hours for power to come back on.
A 15×15 horse barn west of Burwell was blown up, according to the National Weather Service. 25 trees were uprooted and the roof of the first floor of the shopping center was blown off.
Late Night Blaze In O’neill Brings Out Multiple Fire Units
NWS-Hastings said it had received several reports of severe winds, including reports of gusts of up to 80 mph and a downed tree in Acadia.
As you can see in the photo above, Lexington is still seeing damage from downed trees, power lines and more. Lexington is under a severe storm warning issued at 1:23 p.m. This was the first warning issued by the government on Thursday.
The Nebraska Public Power District is reporting multiple power outages in cities across the state, including Lexington, Ashton and O’Neill. Now workers are on their way to respond to some deaths.
