The latest Caesars Entertainment resort in Las Vegas will open at the end of the year. On Thursday’s earnings call, Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Rigg said the off-site Rio should return by early 2021.
“We opened the Cromwell last week. I’m hoping to have the Rio open by the end of the year,” Rigg said by phone.

The Rio was closed in March when the government ordered the closure of unauthorized businesses, including casinos, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The state allowed casinos to open on June 4 at 50 percent occupancy and maintain social distancing, with masks mandatory for everyone starting in late June.
The company also has no plans to follow Encore Las and Park MGM in closing weekend events.
“And it keeps getting better for us,” he said. “We’re not talking about closing properties in the middle of the week, obviously we’re talking about opening more properties.”
Encore has decided to reduce its hours starting Monday, October 19th, followed by Park MGM on November 9th. Encore restaurants were also closed for the week, while Park MGM decided to keep its dining rooms open.
