The Kahala Hotel & Resort Dolphins – HONOLULU, Hawaii () – Along with the late in-person interactive encounters, Oahu’s Dolphin Quest is growing an online audience.
“People who are at home and feel stuck at home, there is not much to do. It’s a real way to connect personally with our animals and they love it,” said marine mammal manager Nicole West.

When the Kahala Hotel and Resort closed due to the pandemic, Dolphin Quest began offering special experiences.

Using a computer, a family watches a marine biologist interact with a dolphin and hears them share information about it. animal and the viewer.
“We look at all their different characteristics and give them a detailed description of that particular dolphin,” said Caitlin Carrington, the mammal specialist.
The cost of the family session is $199. Proceeds go to the care of six pigeons at the Kahala lagoon resort.
For an additional fee, the dolphin will paint you a picture. On Monday, holding a brush to his nose, “Hua” painted on the whiteboard for sisters Treva and Tyler Levine, who watched from their home.

“It was really fun,” Treva said. “It was amazing!” Tyler said. “I felt like I was there.”
Dolphin Quest also hosts Facetime sessions every day at 9 a.m., a 10-minute deep dive into caring for dolphins in their captivity.
He said the online audience is growing. “There are people who watch us every day and learn about us,” he said. Together with the community, government and local non-profit organizations, we believe it is our responsibility to work together to protect our island for future generations. Nai Noa’s ‘The Wanderer’ is easily recognized by its chocolate colored top. Nai Noa was born at Dolphin Quest Hawaii in October 1997.

Meaning ‘rare and precious’ in Hawaiian, Liho is a beautiful pigeon with a fitting name. Liho loves any guest interaction and is one of a kind.
Named after the Hawaiian god of fruit and the farmer, Lono was the oldest and oldest of our Dolphin Quest Oahu family and raised calves.
Hua means egg in Hawaiian because she was born on Easter Sunday. The distinguishing feature of Hua is that its lower part is longer than the upper part and the ‘under bite’.
