Tanjong Malim Hotel – Another weekend in Tg Malim is upon us and no, it’s not really a holiday. My wife continues her studies at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and we often stay here in budget hotels. During his first year of study, we always stay at the Sahara Inn Hotel in Taman Bahtera. I think this is one of the first budget hotels in Tg. Malim. Many more budget hotels have mushroomed over the years we’ve been here. I reviewed one of them on this blog. This time we booked another new budget hotel – Sri Malim Hotel. The hotel is located not far from the Sultan Abdul-Jalil Shah campus of Taman University (known to students as the “old” UPSI). Very convenient for students who have classes on the “old” campus.
If you want to try this hotel, I suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment. We booked a family room for four people, the room has a queen and a single bed configuration. The room is quite large and comfortable, as you would expect from a new hotel. There are selected ASTRO channels and each room is equipped with an LCD TV. These days there is a lot of room for hotel rooms.
Tanjong Malim Hotel
Weekend rate is RM110 per night plus RM20 refundable deposit. I learned from the manager that when the room is available and after 12 hours the first 12 hours are allowed for an additional RM5 per hour. Check in was good as was booking in advance.
Twin Star Hotel In Tanjong Malim (perak)
Sri Malim Hotel is a 2-storey shop building converted into a hotel. Parking is quite adequate and given its proximity to the old UPSI campus, it seems to have become a popular budget accommodation with day students.
The hotel also seems to have partnered with one of the nearby restaurants to deliver packaged food to your room. The menu is displayed at reception and the set menu starts at RM7 per pax. Budget hotel with room service. How’s that for you?
We actually went to the D’Jerai cafe a few doors down from the hotel. The food is amazing, I recommend you to try Siakap 3-rasa which is my favorite for my wife. The Nasi Goreng Sardine is also commendable with squid and prawns added to enhance the taste. Try it…..
