Ed Komenda writes about Las Vegas for the Reno Gazette Journal and USA Today Network. Do you care about democracy? Then support local journalism by subscribing to the Reno Gazette Journal here. The Las Vegas pool scene is one of the most inspiring in the world, with many resorts boasting amenities such as waterfalls, wave pools, lazy rivers, true sandy beaches and unparalleled luxury.
Pool decks range from relaxing and peaceful at one end of the spectrum to a lively party atmosphere at the other.
While there are many bridges built to make an impression in Las Vegas, there are others that guests want to…more.
This got us thinking – can you still use the pool in Las Vegas even if you’re not staying at the resort?
The Pools Of The Venetian Resort
To depend upon. Usually the answer is no and a room key is required to gain access to the pool. However, there are exceptions, for off-property visitors and locals.
Below, we’ll reveal which pools you can access (free or for a fee) even if you’re not staying at the property.
Note: Las Vegas is fluid and can change quickly. As always, we recommend that you call the pool directly to confirm their current policy before you travel!
Unfortunately, there are currently no resorts that offer free access to their pools without guests. TopGolf, below, is the only completely free pool in Las Vegas that is open to everyone.
Pool At Palms Place
Topgolf’s Hideaway Pool: It may not be a resort, but Topgolf’s 2-level pool is open to the public, as long as you’re 21 or older. Note that no purchase is necessary. Just show up and relax!
Tropicana: Local residents can enter Tropicana Pool for free any day of the week with a valid Nevada driver’s license.
The Palms: After 2 years of closure, The Palms has reopened and is allowing locals to enter the pool for free Monday through Thursday. Just bring your NV ID.
Caesars Party Properties: Renting a cabana or daybed at the pool of your choice guarantees access, even if you’re not staying at the resort. Cabanas and daybeds can be reserved online in advance with your preferred property.

Resorts under the Caesars umbrella include Caesars Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, The Links, Harrah’s, Cromwell, Bali, Rio and Flamingo.
MGM Resorts Properties: While no MGM pools offer day passes, pools are still available for those willing to splurge on cabanas or day beds. We recommend checking out the beach at Mandalay Bay or the large pool complex at the MGM Grand. Both come equipped with a lazy river. Browse cabana prices by resort here.
Resorts under the MGM umbrella include Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York, Park MGM, Aria, MGM Grand, Bellagio and Mirage.
Downtown Grand: Non-resort guests can access Downtown Grand’s rooftop citrus pool deck with a cabana or table reservation.
Is This The Best Swimming Pool In Las Vegas?
Cosmopolitan: Purchasing a cabana or daybed will unlock access to the Boulevard and Chelsea Pools at the Cosmopolitan. The fee you pay in advance is a minimum for food and drink which can then be spent at the pool.
Plaza: The Plaza rooftop pool is available to anyone who rents cabanas for $125 on weekdays and $200 on weekends. $50 of that fee goes toward rent, while the rest can be used to purchase food and drinks at the pool.
Golden Nugget: The Tank Pool Deck is once again available to non-hotel guests for a fee payable at the entrance. The price ranges from 35 to 45 dollars depending on the day. Please note that the pool is reserved for hotel guests only on Saturdays. If interested, you may call Guest Services at (702) 500-1606 to obtain rates for your specific date.
Circa: Stadium swim at Circa is available for non-property guests for a cover starting at $20, but may be higher during peak periods. Our suggestion? Place a sports bet before you hit the pool, then start the game on the 143m amphitheater screen. We think you’ll agree that Circa ranks among the best pools in Vegas.
Mgm Grand Las Vegas Pool: The Relaxation Paradise You Want
Red Rock Resort: Anyone can enter Red Rock’s incredible sandbar pool deck for $25 cover ($10 for kids under 16).
Note that access to Red Rock’s non-guest pool is based on occupancy, which can make weekends a bit more challenging. However, renting a day bed or cabana will guarantee access.
Green Valley Ranch: Similar to Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch offers a beautiful pool complex off the Strip complete with a real sandy beach. Non-hotel guests can enter the pool for $25 ($10 for children under 16).
Note that access is based on occupancy, so weekend visits may be more difficult. However, renting a day bed or cabana will guarantee you access.
The Cosmopolitan’s Pools Get Ready To Open With Views Above The Las Vegas Strip
M Resort: Non-hotel guests can access the M Resort pool for a $10 cover charge Monday through Thursday and a $20 cover charge Friday through Sunday. Children are always $10.
The Palms: Guests staying at The Palms can still use their pool Monday through Thursday with a $15 cover charge and Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a $20 cover charge.
Most Las Vegas pools are open to the public, if you’re willing to pay to rent a cabana or day bed.
While cabanas require a minimum food and beverage cost or flat fee to be paid in advance, if you’re interested, you’ll get access to the pool you want.
