DENVER – Denver Parks and Recreation opened eight outdoor pools Monday, and three new pools will open June 14.

It’s part of the city’s plan to reopen recreation centers, the pool, drop-in programs and other activities throughout the summer. For more information on dates and facility openings, visit denvergov.org/recreation.

“With the recent lifting of capacity restrictions and social distancing requirements, we will continue to focus on safety as we begin to open more of our facilities, programs and activities,” said Parks and Recreation Director Happy Haynes , in a press release. “We are dedicated to supporting healthy lifestyles that enhance the well-being of our residents.”

Beginning Monday, weight rooms and cardio facilities were scheduled to open and provide access to exercise equipment at recreation centers in Athmar, Montclair, Cook, Hiawatha Davis and Rude. Open-by-appointment recreation centers are no longer required at Carla Madison, Eisenhower and Green Valley.

Parks and Rec also said taped programs and activities began Monday. Registration for summer in-person programs and activities began May 31 and includes arts and culture, adaptive recreation, active seniors, fitness, outdoor activities and summer adult sports leagues.

MY Denver activities and the Tasty Food Meal Program will continue to provide an afternoon meal for children ages 5 to 18, and seven Summer in the Parks day camps and a youth sports camp will also begin in June, Parks and Rec said.

Other recreation centers, indoor pools and other activities will continue to open throughout the year, Parks and Rec said.
