Mount Brandon Hotel – Garron Tower was built in 1850 as a summer residence for Frances Anne Vane, Marchioness of Londonderry. From 1899 Garron Tower was leased by Henry McNeill Ltd and operated as a hotel until 1939. From 1951 the building was used as a boarding school. Cards published by William Lawrence, Dublin.
The Ennis Institution is still operating today. This view of W. Lawrence at the beginning of the 20th century. The building was originally a private residence in the early 18th century and became a hotel in 1895. More history here.

Knights Inn Brandon In Brandon (manitoba)
The bleak and inaccessible place was the terminus of the branch of the Great Northern Railway from Enniskillen. The railway operated from 1868-1957 but the hotel survived and is still operating today. The current building is a replacement for the original building that was destroyed by fire.

The Bridge Hotel, Brandon
No publisher has been announced – probably the Hotel itself – and I can’t tell you the name of the artist. A very nice early 1950s (?) card of this oasis on the north side of Dublin.
Directly opposite Westland Row (Pearse) station. The West of Ireland railway station was the starting point in 1925 and as services gradually moved to Kingsbridge (Heuston) and Amiens Road (Connolly) it lost its importance and may hasten the demise of the hotel. . I remember it being demolished in the 1970s and it has been demolished for a long time.
Less fortunate than the Royal Hotel in Valencia, the Imperial Hotel found itself at the center of the Easter Rising in 1916 and experienced the consequences as before and after the show.
Sadly, this popular South City hotel closed in 2010 and was converted into a dormitory for the nearby University in 2014. This 1970s card was published by John Hinde Ltd.

The hotel was demolished a few years ago while the ‘main’ building survives in private ownership. The title of Charlemont survived and the 15th Viscount lived in Canada.
