Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, formerly known as the Opryland Hotel, is a hotel and convention center located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties (formerly known as Gaylord Hospitality Company) and operated by Marriott International. With 2,888 rooms, it is one of the 30 largest hotels in the world.

The hotel was originally built to support the Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville country music institution that moved to the area three years ago. At the time, the hotel had 580 rooms and a ballroom. The Magnolia lobby is designed to resemble a grand southern mansion with a staircase and Tiffany-style chandelier.

Between 1983 and 1984 the hotel was expanded, adding 400 rooms and incorporating facilities to meet the needs of the convention and corporate meeting market. A dormer conservatory similar to a Victorian dormer was added. The atrium maintained a constant temperature of 71 degrees and housed more than 10,000 plants.

In 1988, 2 acres (0.81 ha) and 797 rooms were added to the hotel. The Cascades Atrium was built with a 3.5-story waterfall and over 8,000 tropical plants. The Cascades lobby has been expanded to 24 check-in stations that can accommodate up to 580 guests per hour when needed.

A 4.5-acre expansion completed in 1996 doubled the size of the complex, adding approximately 1,000 rooms, 10 meeting rooms, a 289,000-square-foot showroom, and a 57,000-square-foot ballroom. The distinctive feature of the addition is the Cajun-themed Delta Atrium, which includes a quarter-mile-long inland river. Flat boats were introduced to take guests down the river, past a water feature that featured jets choreographed to music. When it expanded, water samples from more than 1,700 rivers around the world (including all registered rivers in the United States) were released into the Delta River. The Old Hickory Steak House was built to resemble an antebellum style mansion.

In 1997, Gaylord Tertainmt announced the construction of a second Opryland hotel in Kissimmee, Florida. The announced name of the new property is Opryland Hotel Florida. Shortly thereafter, a third resort (the Opryland Hotel Texas) was announced for Grapevine, Texas, and the original property was officially renamed Opryland Hotel Nashville to distinguish it from its newer sister properties.
