How Many Rides Are At Walt Disney World – Disney World may be the most magical place on earth. At its best, it’s pure stress-free fun and an enjoyable escape from the real world.
To get the most out of your Disney trip and avoid long queues, you should plan ahead.

Prioritize the attractions you want to do most and board them first thing in the morning or use the new paid Lightning Lanes. A little planning makes Disney so much more fun.
Best Things To Do At Disney World: Must Do Rides For Adults In Each Park
Disney World in Orlando, Florida has four main parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Each one is very different and I recommend spending at least one full day at each park.
Below, I’ve listed the best Disney World rides at each park that you shouldn’t miss, as well as a strategy to avoid the rows and our favorite places to eat.
I focused on the best things to do at Disney World for adults and older children, but most of them are suitable for the whole family.
There have been many changes at Disney World in recent years, but now the parks are operating normally. Check the Disney website for the latest updates.
January 2023 At Disney World (crowd Calendar, Weather, Openings)
There are two main ways to avoid long queues at Disney World’s best rides. When using them, we rarely wait in line for more than 15 minutes (30 minutes maximum).
The first is to be near the front of the line to enter the parks at least 30 minutes before the official opening time (you can check it out on the Disney World website).
If you’re staying at a Disney property, you can enter all parks 30 minutes early each day; Definitely take advantage of it. I recommend arriving 60 minutes before the park’s official opening as it sometimes allows guests to enter early.
Also, if you are staying at a Deluxe Disney property, you may be late at certain parks on certain days.
The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh (attraction)
Access to Lightning Lanes is primarily through a new paid service called Genie+, which you can purchase from the My Disney Experience app for $15 per day ticket (or include when purchasing admission to the park).
Trip reservations can be made in the app. They are only available during the day (from 7am) and you can only book one at a time. You can choose your next ride as soon as you tap the ride or after 120 minutes have passed.
The two most popular toys at each park are not included in the $15 package. In contrast, queue skipping for these is priced separately (called Individual Lightning Lanes) and the cost varies with demand. For resort guests, they can be purchased in-app at park opening or at 7 am.
While Genie+ is a service worth paying for, especially for the Magic Kingdom, you should be able to avoid paying for individual journeys by arriving early and driving them first.

Most of these Disney World toys are accessible to guests using wheelchairs or ECV (electric transportation vehicles), but most require transferring the wheelchair to the ride-on vehicle.
You can see this list of services for guests with mobility impairments on Disney’s website, which shows which vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
If you only have time for one park at Disney World, make it the Magic Kingdom. It is the most classic Disney park with its fairy tale castle and famous characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
The best Magic Kingdom attractions for adults are the three mountains. I haven’t included any Fantasyland attractions below as they’re aimed at younger children, and queues for games like Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh are often too long and not worth it for us.
The Best Rides At Walt Disney World Resort, Florida
The most popular ride is the smooth roller coaster Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We boarded once and enjoyed it, but we think it’s not worth the long queues.
If you really want to ride, get there first (but everyone else will, and it’s a bit crazy), wait until later in the day, or buy individual Lightning Lane access (currently $10-12).
The most exciting ride in the Magic Kingdom is a high-speed roller coaster with lots of twists and turns (but no reversals or big falls) in the dark.
It’s inside a huge futuristic building, and there are interactive games to keep you in line (we usually don’t have time to use it as the park is quiet after it opens).
The Best Roller Coasters At Walt Disney World: Rated
Thunder Mountain is a fun outdoor roller coaster in Frontierland, our favorite area of the park with a Wild West theme.
It’s not as wild as Space Mountain, but we love the theme (you’re on a runaway mining train during the gold rush) and the view of the park.
We really have a soft spot for jolly Splash Mountain, and it’s definitely one of the best pastimes at Disney World on a hot day.
This delightful journey on the log channel tells the story of Br’er Rabbit, who goes in search of adventure, following Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox.
Scariest Rides At Disneyland: 19 Roller Coasters & Attractions
The journey takes place mostly indoors, with cute animatronic characters and catchy songs, before stepping outside for a fun plunge down a five-story waterfall.
We don’t usually get drenched, but it’s possible if you’re sitting in the wrong seat at the wrong time.
There is rarely a queue for Splash Mountain in the morning or evening and we usually go multiple times.

Virtual Walt Disney World And Disneyland Rides
Pirates of the Caribbean is a gentle inner journey through the scenes of a pirate raid, from the bombing of a castle to the debauchery after victory.
We notice new details every time we ride. The movies were inspired by this classic ride and now you can see an animatronic figure of Captain Jack Sparrow.
A leisurely stroll through a haunted mansion full of ghosts and ghouls. More fun (and often humorous) than scary, with lots of creepy details and special effects to enjoy.
In this interactive Toy Story-themed ride, you shoot targets with laser cannons and earn points as your spinning car (you control its spin) moves through the stages.
Disneyland Rides, Ranked From Worst To Best
Not as good as the similar ride at Hollywood Studios, but Simon still wanted to ride again to beat his score.
Once you’ve got the main attractions out of the way, one of the best things to do in the Magic Kingdom is to just wander around, soak up the atmosphere, and pop into one of the random shows and attractions that rarely wait long.
If you’re wondering what to do at Disney World when you’re tired and exhausted, I recommend musical shows like the Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree (surprisingly spicy!), and Mickey’s PhilharMagic. You won’t have to wait long and they’re perfect when you need a break.
We also love picnicking on Tom Sawyer’s Island, climbing the Swiss Family Tree House, and getting on the water with the wordplay Jungle Cruise or the tranquil Liberty Square Riverboat.
Permanently Closed Disney Rides That Make Us Nostalgic
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover takes you behind the scenes of Tomorrowland attractions and is especially beautiful when you see the park from above at sunset. We like to take the train through the park when we are tired in the afternoon.
If you bought Genie+ for Magic Kingdom (it’s worth it), I would prioritize Thunder Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and Space Mountain.
Other popular picks include Jungle Cruise (renewed in 2021), Peter Pan’s Flight, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Pirates.
The Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn in Frontierland is our top pick for budget dining at Disney World, because it’s your meal with salsa, cheese, jalapeños, pickles, and lettuce.
The 6 Fastest Rides In Disney World
Veggie Nachos and Beans and Veggie Vegetarian Rice are delicious when you add the ingredients. Save time by ordering from the Disney app.
The Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square is another good option. We enjoyed the hummus and broccoli sandwich and the veggie chili.
With the addition of Pandora – The World of Avatar in 2017, Animal Kingdom has become one of Disney World’s most enjoyable parks.
It has fewer major attractions than other parks, but this one makes for a more relaxing experience (with fewer queues) and there’s still plenty to do.
Disney Unveils New And Revamped Popular Attractions
Avatar Flight of Passage is by far the most popular ride in the Animal Kingdom, and this unique experience is a must-do for Disney.
The lines were running up to three hours when we visited, so it’s essential to arrive before the park opens or pay for a separate Lightning Lane (currently $11-14). You can also try lunchtime, when the queues can sometimes relax.
We arrived 30 minutes before Extra Magic Hours opened (they let us in early) and only had to wait 25 minutes.
Flight of Passage is worth the wait and the beautiful queue and fun pre-show are all part of the experience. This might be the best Disney ride ever.
