Hotel Sungai Abong Muar – The hotel is ok, suitable for those who are traveling but not for vacationers..no facilities like shampoo or body wash provided.
The room is very nice and simple..close to the city and easy to find food. The staff is friendly and my bed is comfortable.
Hotel Sungai Abong Muar
It is located in the middle of Muar city. The hall is surprisingly big and the room is pleasantly VERY spacious! The comfortable spaciousness of the room will be ideal for a large family, especially with small children. Plus, there’s a bathtub!!! Can keep kids busy and happy! It can also be heaven after a long day. Water pressure is also a relief to relieve fatigue. The bed and pillows were very comfortable (for me) and I had a good night’s sleep. It is very convenient because it is connected to a mall that has supermarkets, fast food chains (Texas Chicken, McDonald’s and Sushi King), coffee beans! main pharmacies (Watson and Guardian) and even bookstores (Popular and Tanjong Mas) if you forget to bring a box of books and want a day/night instead. My son forgot to pack his toothbrush so we went ahead and bought him one. Convenience stores (7-Eleven) and clinics are a short distance away. Local cuisine restaurants are also a short distance away, so it’s convenient. However, the downside, since the mall is next to the hotel, they share the same basement parking. You have to use the stairs to go to the hotel or wait patiently for the ONE 4 lift to the ground floor of the mall, then turn left at the entrance of the mall to go to the nearby hotel. The lobby is not your typical hotel lobby. When you enter the double glass door (which is the same as the cafe and the restaurant, so don’t get confused) you will find the concierge desk (although when I arrived there was no one present), there are two lifts, so you have to go to the first floor to the counter for reception (hotel lobby). I have to warn you in advance, it’s not a regular hotel lobby, it shares the same area as the hotel cafe😄, so don’t be too surprised. Fortunately, the staff is very friendly and helpful which makes the check-in process pleasant. It seems to be quite an old hotel so don’t expect it to be clean and in perfect condition. Depending on where your room is, don’t expect a nice view of the city (it depends on your definition of “nice, though”). The carpet looks a bit old. You may face some problems with going to the toilet; I was worried about it at first until I got it right. When I entered the room, the bed was not made and made properly which made me raise an eyebrow. I found a note and a pencil on the bedside table, probably used by a previous guest. Therefore, I dare to say that housekeeping needs to be improved or properly trained. It has a limited number of plug-ins, only 3; one on the coffee table, 2 on the desk, but even the one that is supposed to be used for the desk and floor lamp. No one on the bedside table. Hence, you should bring your own extension cord or maybe some plugs. You don’t like bedside lamps because you have to struggle to turn them on while lying in bed when you wake up in the middle.
Mwv Suite Room (muar)
The location is very strategic in the center of Muar city. For a solo traveler like me who likes everything close and easy, I prefer this hotel. The mall is next door and many food you can find within walking distance. The staff is also helpful and friendly too. Most importantly, they have a great view overlooking the Muar River and you can also get a chance to see Mount Ledang as well. Overall, I’m satisfied!
Overall the hotel is good, the staff is friendly, the lobby is clean and the room is tidy except for the bathroom. Bad maintenance in the bathroom, when I turn on the sink, the tap water flows down the floor wet. Cold & Hot shower sign heater is not visible, hair shampoo is very diluted (why do they mix with water?). My next visit I will make sure that I will bring my own hair shampoo.
The room is spacious and clean. comfortable bed. The bathroom is nice, but the bathroom lighting is terrible. Not designed by anyone who needs to shave. My one complaint is that a lot of street noise leaks through the windows. It really needs an extra layer of glass. The hotel is about a 13-minute walk from Wetex Parade. But those who walk in malaysia except mat saleh are crazy.
4 stars instead of 5 because 1) I booked a Tatami double room for my friend and I based on the photo and description of the room on Agoda, which indicated two matching beds. At check-in, the receptionist explained to us that the rooms are small and tatami room just means mats on the tatami floor. So we asked for an upgrade to make sure we got the right bed. We agreed with him about the upgrade. We don’t mind paying for an upgraded room if that’s the case, but the website description is the same and the actual price is the same between tatami and non-tatami rooms. We didn’t ask to see the actual tatami room as described by the receptionist because we were too busy with the day, but we believed the description. After checking in, we entered our assigned room, which was very small, although it had a window facing the harbor. My Agoda reservation was a Superior Tatami Twin. So I think my reservation is for a room without a window, both rooms seem to be the same size ie 15m2.
Owee’s Place (formerly Hillberry Suites)
Everything about this hotel is decent. The road to this hotel is a busy road, so expect some delays if you drive at rush hour. There is enough parking around and in front of the hotel. The good: the room is comfortable and the AC is cold, the Wi-Fi signal is decent and enough for 3 USB cable devices are provided in the room that are not safe either in the destination or left by the previous tenant. so more than meets the eye but the hotel staff did not meet him which is a shame Check-in and check-out was easy with complimentary tea. Friendly staff The bad: Nothing much here except the lack of a refrigerator and not providing a set of toothbrushes minor trouble proofing the sound is quite bad.
I came with my family, we took 5 rooms, 1 Deluxe family room for my wife and two children, 1 Superior family room for my brother and his family, 2 Deluxe double rooms for my daughter and her husband, around noon the hotel staff called. we asked if we came, we paid in full, we believe we came, let him ask what time you come, that’s the right question, maybe if we can’t come they can sell the room again (double sale). it’s rush hour. I told them we were already in the area and asked what time we can check-in, they said after 3pm when the standard check-in time is after 2pm, I guess they might be busy with the situation back to back so we come after 17:00. just to give them time to make room. When checking, one of the rooms was not ready, we had to call the reception to fix the room, the housekeeper came and fixed the room immediately. Finally we have 4 rooms on the 1st floor and 1 room on the 2nd floor, there is no elevator in this hotel only stairs, we asked if we can change the room on the 2nd floor to the 1st floor because I have a bad one. knee problem and my wife has asthma, but the staff at the reception is very rude and tells my son “You have a strong body shape, you can use it”. this is how you answer with a customer.. funny isn’t it.. I am also a hotelier, I understand the situation when the hotel is fully booked, but they have to choose words so as not to create a situation. bad Since we only stayed for one night, I just exchanged my room with my newly married daughter. The room needs deep cleaning, most of the toilet tiles are moldy, the edge of the toilet is dirty.
