In 2019, the hotel began renovating all 100 bedrooms, introducing a new color palette throughout. The addition of Connemara Maple furniture and new beds, along with modern soft furnishings have created a fresh and comfortable environment for our guests.

The renovation extended to the hotel lobby, introducing furniture such as the living room, a new color palette, new carpet and soft furnishings finished with windows.
In early January 2020, the exterior of the hotel was refreshed with the addition of a fresh coat of paint and new signage to coincide with the hotel’s rebranding from Holiday Inn Killarney to The Parkavon Hotel Killarney.

The story of Cahernane House begins in 1656 when the Earls of Pembroke arrived in Ireland with a grant of land in County Kerry. One brother was given the Muckross estate, on which is the beautiful Muckross House, and the other got the Currans and Cahernan estates. The current Cahernane House was built in 1877 and the old house was demolished and replaced by the Victorian mansion you see today.

With meticulous attention to detail, the hotel now offers modern amenities while retaining the old-world charm of a Victorian-style hotel. There are many places to stay in Killarney, but those looking for accommodation in Killarney will be hard pressed to find a better place than Cahernane House. Cahernane’s location on the Muckross Road means you can be in Killarney town center in around 20 minutes. Turn outside the gate and within minutes you’ll be at the gates of Killarney National Park, Muckross House and Tork Falls. Ross Castle is also nearby.

There are 48 rooms and suites in total – 12 in the Manor House and 28 in the Garden Wing, with a further 8 rooms available in the brand new coach house adjacent to the main building. .
The rooms are impressively decorated – many have freestanding baths and rain showers, all feature old Irish antiques and are designed in sympathy with their Victorian surroundings.
The main selling point of Cahernan House is the high quality rooms at all levels (not just the most expensive ones), making the hotel one of the best places to stay in Killarney.
Riverside Hotel Killarney Kerry
Our room was a junior suite in the garden wing, which was added to the main building in the 1960s and completely renovated in 2018. So, where do I start?
When they entered the room, there was a well-lit dressing room with large wardrobes and a vanity (which also had a full-length mirror). Once you pass this area, you enter the main part of the room, which holds its own against the competition of not only 4-star but also 5-star hotels in Killarney, a fact that confirms Cahernane’s position among the hotels of luxury of Killarney.
There was a living area with a large bed, an armchair, a TV and the most welcome feature – a Nespresso coffee machine with a beautiful blue Delphi and white to drink your coffee.
The living room led to the bedroom area. The bed was king and comfortable – I had a wonderful two night stay at Cahernan. The beautiful, large balcony next to the bedroom had a beautiful view of the garden behind the house and the Tomis and Purple Mountains.
Hotels In Killarney
I think our bathroom might be my favorite part of our room. Finished with beautifully designed wallpaper and filled with painted wood, the bathroom featured a free-standing, floor-to-ceiling bathtub with a free-standing rain shower. Elemis offers bath products, slippers and clothes.
Herbert’s Restaurant is located in a large and elegant room on the ground floor of an old house. Boasting 2 AA Rosettes and delicious local produce, our food here was excellent and the service excellent.
The Cellar Bar is also located in the main house, but is located below the original wine cellar of Cahernan House.
