Disney Hotels That Are Open – Walt Disney World continues to update the resort’s timeline for reopening in 2022, with revised dates for hotels pending. This looks at how timelines, refurbishment and construction could push back opening dates, and provides forecasts for the future. (
In short, all Disney Vacation Club resorts are welcoming guests back over the summer before the parks reopen. This includes DVC units in hotels that were and are otherwise closed. The most extreme example is Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has an occupancy rate of about 10% because the hotel rooms are not being used.
Disney Hotels That Are Open
In the months since the park reopened, Walt Disney World has resumed operations at a number of hotels, starting with those on the Skyliner cable car and monorail lines and opening a few others that are connected to the park only by bus transportation.

Let’s take a look at the resorts currently operating at Walt Disney World, followed by a timeline for the hotel’s reopening in 2022…
These are the Disney Vacation Club and luxury villa resorts currently open at Walt Disney World:
Note that some hotels appear to be listed in the “Currently Open” list above and the “Reopening Schedule” below. However, this is because some resorts have both a standard hotel room wing and a Disney Vacation Club villa wing. In many cases, only the DVC wing of the hotel is open and the hotel side is not yet open.
Based on our latest update, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter have reopened as planned. These are 3 of 4 major hotels scheduled to reopen in the last quarter of 2021.
Saratoga Springs Resort And Spa At Walt Disney World
The only Walt Disney World hotel to reopen is now the All-Star Sports Resort, which was pushed back from its original reopening date. However, during Christmas week, Walt Disney World announced that the All-Star Sports Resort will reopen on March 31, 2022.
Please note that if you have booked your stay at All Star Sports prior to this date, Walt Disney World will move for you. Usually that means going to another great-value resort, but it depends where there is availability.
When the all-star movie reopened, the hotel was overbooked for a long time, and Disney regularly moved movie guests to the Greater Floridian because it was the resort with the best availability. Don’t expect this to happen again, but the point is that upgrading is possible!
A possible reason why All Star Sports reopened much later than other hotels is due to room redecoration. As mentioned above, this was planned but had not started at the time of the shutdown.
Walt Disney World Resort In Orlando, Florida
Meaning it has no negative impact on guests. Nobody likes actively building buildings in the hotel they’re staying at. The bad news is that All Star Sports won’t return until 2022, but the good news is that when it returns, it will be revamped again.
In addition, Walt Disney World announced the benefits and experiences that will be available at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort when it reopens:
During the closure, renovation work at All Star Music has been completed. (For more information on the room overhaul, see our photos and video: Redesigned Guestrooms in All Star Resorts post.) In addition to the room overhaul, All Star Music also renovated the lobby.
Walt Disney World accelerated the return of the university program and began hiring, bringing the two properties back shortly after Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebrations began.
New Details & Reservations Open For Riviera Resort
The Animal Kingdom Inn returns for this. That might seem insignificant since the Disney Vacation Club Villas at Jambo House have been open for over a year. However, the vast majority of Jambo House are hotel rooms (approximately 1,200 hotel rooms and approximately 200 villas), so Walt Disney World will need to reinvest a significant amount of inventory.

Note that the porch, entrance, and monorail station are all finished as well. Plus, Poly! now has monorail service!
Guide To Early Theme Park Entry At Disney World
Finally, it’s great to see that almost all of the Walt Disney World properties are back now. Now Port Orleans and All Star Resorts are back, which means another 10,000 or so hotel rooms can come back online once those properties fill up.
Obviously, that’s an awful lot of rooms, and Walt Disney World doesn’t have the staff to fill them all. Hopefully that will change by 2022 when the company can hire more butlers, food court workers and other extras.

St. Louis Based Drury Hotels Will Open Disney Springs Hotel In October
In order to increase the inventory of Disney Vacation Club, Disney announced in 2017 the new Disney Riviera Resort, which will be located adjacent to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Thanks to its central location, guests staying at the resort can not only enjoy Epcot and the incredible nighttime spectacle of Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, but also take advantage of the new Disney Skyway transit system opening this month in Walt Disney World. disney world.
At Disney’s Riviera Resort, guests will find a mix of modern and classic 20th-century furniture, as well as a unique art collection honoring beloved Disney characters and icons inspired by master craftsmen who found inspiration on the European Riviera artist’s influence.
The 300-room hotel is nearing completion, and Disney has announced that Disney’s Riviera Resort will open before the end of the year on December 16, 2019.

The new property offers luxury studios, one, two and three bedroom villas, as well as a brand new tower studio style. Designed for two, this new type of accommodation features a private balcony with seating for two and a kitchenette. Perhaps the most striking thing about this room is that it doesn’t have a full size bed! Instead of a traditional bed in the room, Disney outfitted each Tower Studio with a queen-sized Murphy bed that can be tucked into the wall (see example below, look for handles!)

Guests interested in this compact room concept may wonder if its compact size and design are suitable for those who want to live near the cable car station, but unfortunately, these rooms are still quite expensive, with standard room rates starting at $335 per night from, including tax.
As for other room types, Deluxe Studios start at $503 per night, one-bedroom villas start at $743 per night, two-bedroom villas start at $1,136 per night, and luxurious three-bedroom villas have one king bed and four queen beds. Queen-size sofa beds start at $2,277.
