American Airlines is running a promotion where you will receive a 25% bonus when you transfer points from the hotel loyalty program to American Airlines. This promotion runs until October 30, 2019 and applies to multiple hotel transfers:
** Hilton Honors, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham Rewards transfers do not receive the 25% bonus for any reason!
Unfortunately, with the Starwood program no longer in existence and Marriott’s hotel + air packages devalued, there isn’t much opportunity to get value for money. Personally, for me, this transfer option is best for orphaned points to another program where you don’t redeem them for a free night.

Marriott Bonvoy Transfer Partners And Best Uses [2022]
We recently saw how Capital One improved transfer rates. But today, good news comes in the form of a new transfer partner from the Citi ThankYou Rewards program.
That’s right: Citi ThankYou just added a hotel transportation partner, Choice Privileges. And in the process, City also added its first partner with a 1:2 transmission ratio. For every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points you transfer, you’ll earn 2,000 Choice Privilege points.
To transfer Citi ThankYou Rewards points to select privileges, log in to your Citi ThankYou account here. Hover over the trip, then select transfer points.
Click Next and then decide how many points you want to transfer. You must enter your Choice Privilege account number, and the terms state that your Thank You account and your Choice Privilege account must have the same first and last name.

Just because you can transfer Citi ThankYou points to select privileges at a 1:2 ratio doesn’t mean you should.
Which Points Can You Transfer To Delta Skymiles?
The Choice Privileges program certainly offers many benefits. For example, you can often book well-located Cambria and Ascend Hotel Collection properties in major cities for 30,000 points or less per night. And I love booking centrally located hotels in Europe, Japan and New Zealand for 6,000 points a night.
Because of the program’s attractive promotions and the value I can get by redeeming Choice points, I often book Choice hotels during my travels. But the rewards table has definitely grown in some areas, and there are many ways Choice Privileges should improve its loyalty program.
TPG’s valuation puts the value of Citi ThankYou points at 1.7 cents each and Choice Privileges points at 0.6 cents each. So even with a 1:2 transmission ratio, you’re still effectively losing 0.5 cents per point thanks to switching to Choice. In short, the Citi ThankYou Rewards program has more valuable transfer partners.
However, if you want to transfer points to select privileges, the best option right now is Citi ThankYou. Finally, American Express Membership Rewards carry over to Choice Privileges at a 1:1 ratio, meaning you’re effectively losing 1.4 cents per point. Although Capital One announced in April that it would add the option as a transfer partner, transfers are not yet active.
How Long Does It Take To Transfer Points To Airline And Hotel Programs?
It’s great that Citi ThankYou has added its only hotel transfer partner. And Citi should be commended for adding this partner with a 1:2 transmission ratio. This ratio provides enough value that it may make sense to transfer Citi ThankYou points to select privileges for higher-value redemptions.
To earn Citi ThankYou points, you must have a Citi ThankYou Rewards Card. One of the top options is the Citi Premier® Card, which currently offers a sign-up bonus of 80,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening. If you transfer these bonus points to Choice Privileges, you will receive 120,000 Choice Points. And those points will be enough for 15 nights at several centrally located hotels in Tokyo, Japan.
